The sole purpose of training is to make a specific adaptation in the body. We’re training for a certain outcome.
More speed.
More power.
More flexibility.
More stamina.
Etc.
Those are adaptations.
Like we already discussed with hitting the point of diminishing returns, your body can only handle so much stimulus in one day before it shuts down & starts to lose progress.
You HAVE to recover from all the work you do. Hard work is great but you can’t out-train your body. It’s human nature, it is science.
Recovery can be broken down into 3 critical areas.
1. Sleep
2. Nutrition, Hydration, Mineralization, & Supplementation
3. Movement (aka blood flow)
Sure, there are lots of cool tech or other modalities people use in the name of recovery but if you aren’t eating right, sleeping right, and moving right then everything else is just fluff.
Quick note on sleep.
Your body sleeps in 90 minute cycles so plan your sleep around those cycles. Shoot for 7.5 hours to 9 hours of sleep. Waking up in the middle of a sleep cycle is one of the reasons why you wake up groggy & tired.
Try to go to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning.
The first two subjects are ones that are just outside the scope of this training program to cover so for now, try this mobility routine to help you when you need to recover faster.
